Bengaluru: Today’s children are only being taught life skills in schools and colleges, but music, dance and other art forms are teaching them how to live in the society based on values.Senior social worker and working president of Jnanaganapati Kalabhavan, K. Sreepathi Rao expressed his opinion that as much as curricular education is important, extracurricular education is equally or more important, so we have allowed our Carnatic classical music education at Jnanabharati Kalabhavan in Jnanabharati layout.
O.M Basavaraj, Secretary of Gnanganapati Kala Bhavan, said that Kala Bhavans should be made to create art awareness through art education to the society instead of being limited to business only.
Education in Carnatic classical music is still scarce in many areas of Karnataka. Several areas of Bangalore are no exception to this. Music teacher Dr. Chinmaya Rao, founder of Swaramedha Vishwasangeetha Pratishthanam, said that our organization is working hard to make Carnatic classical music education available to everyone everywhere.
Ganapati’s song learned as an introductory lesson was sung by the Swaramedha students as the opening prayer song. Treasurer of Gnanganapati Kalabhavan Ishwara Bhat and music fans were present on this occasion. Vinuta Thomas anchored the programme.
